Monte Mayor is one of the most spectacular golf course in Andalucia. Getting there is an adventure in itself, for the course is up in the mountain of Benahavis. Turn off the coastal highway between San Pedro and Estepona at the Cancelada exit, follow the signpost inland and upward for about seven kilometres. Your patience will be well rewarded. It is a challenging course.

The tees at the long 4th hole are on a raised plattform and your drive must land on an isolated plateau. Your second shot must be aimed at yet another plateau. Your second shot must be aimed at yet another plateau. Beside the green is a beautiful cascading waterfall. At the 18th the tees are set on three levels, from which there are fabulous views across a shallow river to the green 140 metres away.

The estate’s residential development, being carried out by La Perla Developers is now underway with land plots and villas available. By the end of 2000 a new clubhouse will open.

How to get there: Take the Benahavis road which begins at the Rio Guadalmina, on the border between Marbella and Estepona, and after 3 kilometres you will come across a turnoff to the left. The course is about 5 kilometres from this crossroad, beyond the Marbella Club Golf Resort.
