Make a note in your appointment book for the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Estrella, which has been declared of National Tourist Interest. It begins with the departure of the pilgrims, costumed in flamenco dress, for the hermitage of the Virgin some four kilometres from Navas de San Juan.
Along the way it is routine that the enthusiastic retinue which always includes floats and horsemen sing the mayos (canticles to the Virgin that have the peculiarity of being genuine jota dance tunes with folk lyrics and music). In the afternoon after conducting a procession of the Virgin there is the traditional auction of ribbons that have been embroidered by the local residents for the Virgin, and the branch offering as the saint is carried back into the hermitage, the final and most moving moment of the pilgrimage
