The incomparable setting of the El Carpio Theatre is the base of the majestic Garcí-méndez Tower (1325) also called the Torre de Homenaje. The construction of the ramp for ascending to its heights is similar to the one of the famous Giralda in Seville. Here in late June the Alto Guadalquivir Theatre performance is held for the Vigil of Saint Peter. Another charm of this village founded by Garcí-Méndez de Sotomayor is the Palacio de los Marqueses de El Carpio an ancestral home of the de Haro y Sotomayor nobility, or Concepción Church with its splendid Burial Crypt and its lovely sarcophagus.
