Close by its sister courses Aloha and Las Brisas in Marbellas’s Valle del Golf, Los Naranjos opened in 1977 and has just undergone a programme of improvement including new greens and a computer-controled irrigation system.

Like many Robert Trent Jones designs it features long terraced tees and large undulating greens, thought the broad sweeping fairways of the front nine holes are significantly different from the back nine with their extensive orange groves from which the course gets its name.

Under the direction of Christer Sorensson, Los Naranjos is run on the philosophy that “golf means more than just hitting a ball”, and this is amply ilustrated in the clubhouse, which bills itself as a total golfing experience and “the Costa del Sol’s friendly golf club”.

How to get there: Take the first exit road after you passed Puerto Banus and the Andalucia Plaza Casino in the direction of San Pedro de Alcántara. Take the 2nd exit from the roundabout and follow the signposts. Take the 3rd exit from the next roundabout after 1.2 km. Los Naranjos is situated right at the next roundabout.
