Cajar is located close to Granada (6km) in the area known as La Campana and it was founded in the 16th century as a result of the survey carried out under King Phillip II of Spain in 1572 century.
From a Romantic point of view, it is said that La Campana comprised the whole area around Granada where you could hear the bell of La Vela tower of the Alhambra
