Estepona Golf in privately owned by Rory & David Leader, whose policy is to concenrtate on visiting golfers as a “pay as you play” course.
The course was designed by José Luis Lopez and firstt opened in 1989. The design uses the natural landscape which is set against the Sierra Bermeja mountain range, and enjoys sea views from most parts of the course. The fairways are wide and the greens large which provides a challenge for players of all levels, but doesnt penalise the average golfer.
Playing in the first nine you’ll have the pleasure to play the longest hole in Spain, our third hole, a par 5 called the Ski Run which measures 568 metres from the white tees. Many palms, eucalyptus and wild olive trees have been planted on the course, and players have a great opportunity to enjoy many rares species of wildlife, particulary on the second half.
The clubhouse has recently been completed redecorated, with guest able to choose from the terrace which has extraordinary sea, golf course and mountain views, or inside the restaurant, where they can choose from a wide selection of european food.
The golf course is located on the inland side of the main coastal road at km.150, just one and a half kilometres from Estepona town center.
How to get there: Heading towards Algeciras, there is a turnoff to the right at kilometre 150 of the coastal highway, just past Estepona. The golf course is about 2 kilometres from here.
