Es posible que su solar estuviese habitado por los t\u00fardulos bajo el nombre de Irippo, conserv\u00e1ndose monedas de esta \u00e9poca. Bajo los romanos cambi\u00f3 su denominaci\u00f3n a la de Corippo. Agregada tras la Reconquista a Mor\u00f3n de la Frontera, depende administrativamente de esta ciudad hasta finales del siglo XIX, fecha en la que se constituy\u00f3 en Ayuntamiento independiente. Su escudo data de 1.893, teniendo como figura principal un caballo rampante. El n\u00facleo urbano corresponde fundamentalmente a su \u00e9poca de constituci\u00f3n como entidad municipal independiente. En 1.894 consigui\u00f3 el reconocimiento de villa. La extensi\u00f3n de este municipio es de 52km2 y su altitud es de 325 m sobre el nivel del mar."}
