El origen de la villa actual debe datar de tiempos romanos. Bajo los musulmanes tuvo mayor importancia, habiendo morado en ella durante alg\u00fan tiempo el caudillo Almanzor. En el siglo XIII, tras la conquista cristiana, pasa a ser propiedad de la Orden de Santiago, para independizarse en el siglos siguiente. Posteriormente ha estado bajo la jurisdicci\u00f3n de los condes de Olivares (Guzmanes), existiendo constancia de que ya era Ayuntamiento en 1.500. La poblaci\u00f3n actual de Castilleja de Guzman asciende a 1865 habitantes"}
