La ocupaci\u00f3n de la zona se remonta a la \u00e9poca del Neol\u00edtico, existiendo tambi\u00e9n restos de poblamientos \u00edberos. La villa se asentaba junto al Castillo de la Yedra y fue reconquistada en 1235. El castillo se destruy\u00f3 en el siglo XVI para evitar que fuese tomado por los moros. Estuvo bajo jurisdicci\u00f3n de Segura de la Sierra hasta el a\u00f1o 1552, en el que se declar\u00f3 independiente. Actualmente la poblaci\u00f3n asciende a 1018 habitantes."}
