Chiringuitos are an essential part of the Costa del Sol’s
beaches and there are few stretches of beach without at least
one. Beach bars range from little more than a snack bar to full-scale
restaurants offering sports equipment hire as well as food and
drink.
Most have lounges and sunshades on the beach for hire and the
upmarket ones provide waiter service for lounge users.
Food ranges from the ubiquitous burger and chips, to paella and
other fish dishes. Drinks and ice creams can be particularly expensive.
If in doubt ask to see the price list first. In the summer beach
bras get very crowded and if you want a table or lounger, make
sure you book early. Popular beach bars are also crowded at weekend
and public holidays throughout the year.
Beaches bars open at around 11am or noon until the small hours
daily during the summer months. Many close in the winter and others
open just for lunch and dinner. The ones that remain open all
year may close for holidays in the quieter months.
Several hotels on the coast have beach clubs. Some are for hotel
guests only. But other also admit day guest. Beach clubs have
at least one swimming pool, loungers ,bar and restaurant facilities
and access to the beach.
