The august fiestas are remarkable for their sporting, cultural and evening activities and for the phenomenal Ciudad de Quesada Flamenco Festival. They also involve the farewell to the patron saint whose image is returned to the sanctuary that bears her name to remain until the first Saturday in May of the following year.
According to tradition the statue of this figure of the Virgin Mary was brought by San Isicio and was hidden in the cave of cueva de Agua during the persecutions of the Christians by the Romans and Visigoths. Since 1560, its fame for miracles and the great popular fervour have led many persons to travel to its hermitage which is some 14 kilometres from town.
