Lugros refers to the wolves that must have been abundant at the
time. Its origins date back to the end of the Roman Empire. Under
the Nasrids, it used to be a hamlet that depended on Beas de los
Cautivos (called Beas de Guadix today).
Lugros is located on the north of Sierra Nevada range (its district is part of the Natural Park) and 1,240 metres over the sea level. The streets of its town centre reveal its Moorish past. Here stands out the Santo Cristo de los Milagros parish church, built on an old mosque.
Nature lovers can enjoy the routes throughout the local paths of
the Natural Park.
