The Vega del Guadalquivir is a district that follows the course
of the river from the centre to the west of the province of Córdoba
and comprises Almodovar del Río, La Carlota, Fuente Palmera,
Guadalcázar, Hornachuelos, Palma del Río, Posadas
and La Victoria.
To the south of the River Guadalquivir is the largest district
in the province at an average distance of 46km from the capital.
The River Guadiato and its valley give their name to a large area of Córdoba province, with beautiful scenery and an attractive ecosystem for nature lovers. Located in the north-east of the province and covering 2.512 square kms it comprises 11 municipalities: Belmez, Los Blazquez, Espiel, Fuente Obejuna, La Granjuela, Obejo, Peñarroya-Pueblo Nuevo, Valsequillo, Villaharta, Villanueva del Rey and Villaviciosa de Córdoba, all well linked by road to the Meseta, Extremadura and the rest of Andalucia.
In the north of the province of Cordoba bordering on Extremadura and Castile-La Mancha, there is a landscape of gentle hills, oak trees and granite known as El Valle de Los Pedroches. This frontier aspect has characterised the district and conferred it with an intimate, timeless flavour.
There is a route from Córdoba to Granada where the spirit of Muslim Spain lives on Between olive groves and vineyards there are castles, ramparts and above all customs which recall nearly a thousand years of history.
The Alto guadalquivir is in the east of the province less than 40 minutes from Cordoba covering 1300 squares kms.
